Position: Finance Director
2025 Annual Wage Range: $121,201.60 - $161,033.60

The City of Corcoran is seeking a community-focused and team-oriented individual to lead the City’s Finance Department.

The Finance Director oversees the operations and activities of the City’s Finance Department and prepares and administers the City’s annual operating budget. This position prepares and submits a variety of financial reports, coordinates audit processes, provides financial advice to City officials and management personnel, and supervises assigned personnel.

Successful candidates will demonstrate strong leadership and customer service skills, have municipal or government experience, and supervisory experience. They will also have knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles as defined by GASP, and governmental accounting procedures as defined by GFOA. They will have knowledge of city operations and practices related to finance, budgeting and accounting, as well as laws practices and regulations applicable to City government finances.

The Finance Director works under the supervision of the City Administrator and is expected to perform assigned duties without a need for significant work direction or daily tasks. The Finance Director supervises the Accountant position.

The Finance Director will be responsible for directing and overseeing the operations of the Finance Department. Some of the job duties include overseeing payroll, accounts receivables, accounts payable, and financial reporting. They will also manage preparation of the annual budget, tax levy information, and Truth in Taxation presentation. They will coordinate the development and maintenance of the City’s Capital Improvement Plan as well as having oversight of the budget by reviewing all disbursements and requisitions to ensure appropriate authorization and relation to budget projections. They will closely monitor expenditures within approved budgetary guidelines, and coordinate the City’s annual audit process and development of the City’s Comprehensive Annual Financial Report. They will lead and participate in the development, implementation, administration, and review of the City’s Finance policies and procedures, and other duties as assigned.

Minimum qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field. Three years of relevant municipal or government experience, and two years of relevant supervisory experience.

Desired qualifications include a master's degree in Finance, Public Administration or a related field. Five or more years of Financial Management experience with accounting and budgeting experience, and a CPA Certification.

Employment will be subject to completion of a pre-employment background check. The salary range is $121,201.60 - $161,033.60. Starting salary will depend on qualifications and experience.
